We decided to visit family in Mexico for this year’s trip. On Monday, July 29 we flew into Mexico City and were picked up by Padrino Gabriel and Tia Blanca, and had a nice visit. Of course Matt made his Padrino take him on the Metro, which he talked about nonstop the whole trip.
On Tuesday, we drove to Goicoechea Central, otherwise known as Agua Fria (Venustiano Carranza):
At Abuelita’s house, the kids got to name the two chickens. Sofia named hers “Flor”, and Matt named his “Division del Norte” in honor of his favorite Metro station. We later renamed the chicken “Joaquin”.

We spent one day at a nearby beach at Tuxpan, which was a great experience:

We drove back to Mexico City on Friday, visiting family members all along the way. Saturday, we drove with Gabriel and Blanca to their property near Jojutla, in Morelos:
We got to spend a lot of time on their beautiful property, swimming, eating, relaxing. Rosalinda taught the kids some yoga, and Ili even got a manicure and pedicure. We even visited a drive-through Zoo called Zoofari:

We wound up at a beautiful town in the mountains where Jaime and Gaby (Matt and Sofie’s cousins) live called Taxco, and had a nice dinner with a great view:

We then drove back to Mexico City on Tuesday to fly back on Wednesday. When we got there we met up with Cleo, Marcos, and Mari, who drove in from Agua Fria.

And of course, I couldn’t leave Mexico City without getting some Tacos Al Pastor:
All in all, a wonderful time was had visiting family and friends. It was lovely to have the kids get to see where Iliana grow up. We owe a huge thanks to Rosalinda, Blanca, and Gabriel for their incredible hospitality. This was a trip that Ili, the kids, and I will remember for the rest of our lives.
